Autoformer Volume Controls are designed and engineered for constant voltage. No power is wasted as heat and sonic integrity is assured. Because the autoformer controls are wound to have the correct impedance for constant voltage systems, the OPT-25 and 70 series controllers are connected in line, between the stepped up transformers (at the amplifier) and the step-down transformers (at each speaker).

Designing Systems With the Constant Voltage OPT. Each channel output supports many speakers! Simply calculate how much wattage is required for each speaker. Connect no more than 20 watts to each channel out. Remember the rule of thumb is to reserve 1/3 to 1/4 of the available power for step down transformer insertion loss.

Warning! Do not use standard volume controls between the amp and the speakers in a 70 volt line system. Standard volume controls have an impedance too great for the high voltage of a 70 volt system. Excessive heat, distortion and massive power loss will result! Audioplex Constant Voltage Volume Controls are wound specifically for the impedance of 25 or 70 volt line systems.
